At Casebere Studio we offer a variety of frames in Wood and Metal, Ready-Made and Custom sizes, at competitive prices. We do offer our Framing and Matting services for work other than the Portraits we create. If you have other artwork that you are interested in having framed, give us a call. We would love to give you a quote on framing any of your treasured heirlooms.
How Important Is Framing?
Framing offers your print protection from handling and the elements if done correctly as well as a way of proudly displaying your art or portraits.
There are differences in the mats and glass that are used in framing. If you are a truly a ‘Conservation’ person, please make us aware of your concerns so we can direct you to the products that will address the concerns you have.
One of the simple and inexpensive things you can do is let us use “Conservation Reflection Control” Glass over your work. It is a little more expensive than regular Non- Reflective Glass but it blocks 97% of the Ultraviolet Light.
What Is the Effect Of Ultraviolet Light On Artwork?
The energy in ultraviolet light rays is high enough to sever the organic bonds of paper-borne art. In addition, UV light contributes to severe color loss, paper embrittlement and deterioration of artwork. These effects are both cumulative and irreversible. (All of this applies to Photographic Paper as well.)
What Is Ultraviolet Light-Filtering glass?
Picture framing glass designed to block or repel damaging ultraviolet light is commonly referred to as UV-Filtering glass.
When Should UV-Filtering Glass Be Used?
UV-Filtering glass should be used whenever there is a concern about ultraviolet light damage to artwork. Conservation framing materials and techniques should always be used on sentimental, valuable, limited edition and one-of –a –kind artwork. There has been a trend toward using UV-Filtering glass in decorative artwork presentations of posters and open edition prints. These items are candidates for UV-Filtering glass because the inks, papers and other materials used to create them are more friable than those used in higher end reproductions.
